The Monkey and the Crocodile – English Story with Hindi Translation
The Monkey’s Liver || बंदर का कलेजा
Once upon a time, there lived a monkey on a Jamun (blackberry) tree which was on the bank of a river. The tree was full of sweet fruits, and the monkey was very happy eating them every day.
एक समय की बात है, एक बंदर एक जामुन के पेड़ पर रहता था जो एक नदी के किनारे था। वह पेड़ मीठे फलों से भरा हुआ था और बंदर रोज़ उन्हें खाकर बहुत खुश रहता था।
One day, a crocodile came out of the river and rested under the tree. The monkey, being kind and generous, offered the crocodile some Jamun fruits. The crocodile tasted them and liked them very much.
एक दिन, एक मगरमच्छ नदी से बाहर आया और पेड़ के नीचे आराम करने लगा। बंदर दयालु और उदार था, उसने मगरमच्छ को कुछ जामुन फल दिए। मगरमच्छ ने उन्हें चखा और उसे वे बहुत पसंद आए।
From that day onwards, the monkey and the crocodile became good friends. The monkey would give fruits to the crocodile every day, and they would talk and laugh together.
उस दिन के बाद से, बंदर और मगरमच्छ अच्छे दोस्त बन गए। बंदर रोज़ मगरमच्छ को फल देता और वे दोनों साथ में बातें करते और हँसते थे।
One day, the crocodile took some Jamuns for his wife. She ate them and liked them too. But then she became jealous of the monkey and said, “If these fruits are so sweet, how sweet the monkey’s liver must be!”
एक दिन, मगरमच्छ अपनी पत्नी के लिए कुछ जामुन लेकर गया। उसने उन्हें खाया और उसे भी वे बहुत अच्छे लगे। लेकिन फिर वह बंदर से जलने लगी और बोली, “अगर ये फल इतने मीठे हैं, तो बंदर का कलेजा कितना मीठा होगा!”
She asked her husband to bring the monkey to her so she could eat his liver. The crocodile was shocked and said, “But he is my friend!” Still, she insisted and refused to eat anything else until she got the monkey’s liver.
उसने अपने पति से कहा कि वह बंदर को उसके पास ले आए ताकि वह उसका कलेजा खा सके। मगरमच्छ चौंक गया और बोला, “लेकिन वह मेरा दोस्त है!” फिर भी, उसकी पत्नी ज़िद पर अड़ी रही और कुछ भी खाने से मना कर दिया जब तक कि उसे बंदर का कलेजा न मिले।
The crocodile, helpless, went to the monkey and said, “Friend, my wife wants to meet you. Please come with me.” The monkey agreed and jumped on the crocodile’s back.
मगरमच्छ लाचार होकर बंदर के पास गया और बोला, “दोस्त, मेरी पत्नी तुमसे मिलना चाहती है। कृपया मेरे साथ चलो।” बंदर ने सहमति दी और मगरमच्छ की पीठ पर कूद गया।
As they were in the middle of the river, the crocodile confessed the truth and said, “I am sorry, but my wife wants to eat your liver.” The monkey was clever and said, “Oh no! Why didn’t you tell me before? I left my liver on the tree!”
जैसे ही वे नदी के बीच पहुँचे, मगरमच्छ ने सच्चाई स्वीकार की और बोला, “माफ करना, लेकिन मेरी पत्नी तुम्हारा कलेजा खाना चाहती है।” बंदर चालाक था और बोला, “अरे नहीं! तुमने पहले क्यों नहीं बताया? मैंने तो अपना कलेजा पेड़ पर ही छोड़ दिया है!”
The foolish crocodile believed the monkey and took him back to the tree. The monkey quickly climbed up and said, “You foolish crocodile! How can anyone live without their liver? Go away and never come back!”
मूर्ख मगरमच्छ ने बंदर की बात पर यकीन कर लिया और उसे पेड़ पर वापस ले आया। बंदर जल्दी से ऊपर चढ़ गया और बोला, “तू मूर्ख मगरमच्छ! कोई अपने कलेजे के बिना कैसे जीवित रह सकता है? जा, और दोबारा कभी मत आना!”
And from that day, the monkey lived happily and never trusted the crocodile again.
और उस दिन के बाद से, बंदर खुशी-खुशी रहने लगा और उसने फिर कभी मगरमच्छ पर विश्वास नहीं किया।
